Aspirations

We are a sustainability-centric, non-for-profit clothing brand founded to support Ukraine’s effort to persist through Russia’s illegal and brutal invasion. Our collections of high-quality, responsibly-sourced clothing are intended to inspire the world to proudly support Ukraine by wearing their heart on their sleeves and contribute to the global effort to reduce carbon emissions. By wearing warm clothing indoors during winter, households across the globe can comfortably reduce thermostats and lower energy usage, costs, and pollution.

All proceeds from Ukraine Strong’s clothing sales are donated directly to our Ukrainian non-for-profit partners which are providing critical aid and support services on the ground. In addition to fundraising for these organizations, we hope to inspire European households to reduce their thermostat by 1-2 degrees Celsius every winter, which would reduce fossil fuel consumption across the continent by an estimated 10%.

People

  • Nelsa González

    CO-FOUNDER

Nelsa is a Venezuelan-born Spanish resident that has lived through the distress of an attack on democracy. When she was 24, after living through extreme inflation and witnessing the fall of the country’s democracy at the hands of an autocrat, she made the difficult decision to leave her home and her family in search of a better life.

Despite the heightened xenophobia against Venezuelan immigrants in Panama at the time, in 2016 she moved to Panama City to continue career in corporate communications. After five years of working with Lorrente & Cuenca (LLYC), a leading international communications & media consultancy, she moved to Europe in 2021. When the Russia-Ukraine war began, she immediately understood the sense of loss of community which Ukrainians are currently enduring and co-founded the UkraineStrong Foundation to help where she felt she could.

  • Alexander Palkovsky

    CO-FOUNDER

Alexander is a Canadian-born European with family heritage from the Czech Republic. In 1968, when the Soviet Union occupied then-Czechoslovakia, his grandparents immigrated to Canada in search of a better life for his father, who was eight years-old at the time. When the Russia-Ukraine war began, Alexander and his family understood the hardships that Ukrainians were facing due to Russian aggression.

With his professional background in energy and sustainability, Alexander immediately understood the impact that each European household could have on their energy demand and emissions if they simply reduced their thermostats by 1-2 degrees Celsius during the winter. Energy efficiency is the one of the most cost-effective methods to save energy, and if every European wears a sweater indoors this winter, we can support ourselves, our country, and our Ukrainian neighbours through this challenging time.
